Love your helmet

My new favorite object:

Ever since Monday, when it saved my husband's head.

Here's a close-up:

See the gouges that would have been in somebody's head? The helmet hit twice.

Unfortunately, helmets don't cover arms. The left arm broke and was surgically repaired.

That's ok. We're used to broken arms. We already had one of those this week when daughter #3 tripped at a football game. Just a little buckle fracture. Radius and Ulna.

This is the bike that guys like to covet and wives and girlfriends love to hate.

Yes, it was a beautiful machine. Even I can see that.

See the twisted engine guard? It's my second favorite object this week, because it saved at least one leg from getting really smushed against a car.

Moral of the story: WEAR YOUR HUGE, WAY-TOO-HOT, SUPER-ULTRA-GALACTIC-PADDED HELMET AND YOU PROBABLY WON'T END UP IN A COMA OR DIE WHEN YOU CRASH YOUR MOTORCYCLE.

Love your helmet. It's a beautiful thing.

  1. Oh, Elena! I'm so sorry. Thank heavens your hubby is all right. I hate to hear about the broken arm and I hope he (and your daughter) feel better soon.

I'm SO PROUD of your husband for wearing a helmet. Way to go, Mr. Jube!

p.s. So good to visit here again. I've missed ya.

  2. Ah. So that's why my mom always called them "murder-cycles." "Donor-cycles" was another popular euphemism in our house, I think because my mom was a nurse, and head injuries tend to leave the rest of you in good enough shape for... use.

I'm glad your husband is okay, notwithstanding the broken arm.

  3. Karl just told me last night! I am soooo glad he is ok. Sounds like the break is not too bad either. I hope he recovers well. But he did not say anything about the other broken arm. Oh no! Tell her Hi from us and I hope she will better soon as well. She was not actually the one playing football, was she?
I guess you guys have so many injuries etc. because you do so many fun, active things! If you just sat at home in front of your TV, probably none of that would happen :-) At least that is what I try to tell myself!
We are planning on coming up in October. Just me and the boys. Hope to see you then!
