February, Alas. And, Oh, Yeah, a Free Book.

February is here. Alas and woe.

Have I mentioned that I happen to hate February? That I think it should be banned from the year, and we should switch to an 11-month calendar? Valentine's Day should be banned, too, with all its horrible pink underwear and antacid-flavored candies.

I hate pink. I hate air-inversions and smog. I hate heart-shaped jewelry. I want to crawl into bed with a cup of bitter, slave-free hot cocoa and not come out until March.

Ok. I'm done now. I'd better give away a free book or something, as an apology for blackening your month with my hatred.

It's even a romantic book. By my friend, Bree Despain--the sequel to her YA novel The Dark Divine. It's called The Lost Saint and it came out just after Christmas.

If you like vampires and werewolves and things Twilightish, this is your kind of story. *Disclaimer: I still haven't actually read it because my girls are book-hogs and won't share. But they tell me it's "very intense."

Rules:

To be entered in the book drawing, you must

1. Follow my blog by clicking on the "Follow" link in the sidebar to the right. If you already follow, you're good to go and I love you already.

2. Leave a comment and tell me you want to be entered.

3. Do it by Saturday, February 5th.

That's all. I tried to make it easy, because it's February and I don't want to tax anyone's mental skills in the month of Brain Cloud.

There's a good chance I'll be giving away a second book this month, just because I like books and I hate Februrary, and giving away books makes me feel better, so check back soon for details.

Good luck surviving until March. Me, I'll be in bed reading and writing lots of depression poetry on my computer.

  1. I'd love to enter. Good luck with February. I'd love to get rid of the whole season.

  2. I am a follower, and I would love to be entered. I used to agree with you about February, but now my oldest son has his birthday in February. His birthday makes February awesome for me. I recognize that it might not make it so awesome for anyone outside of my family.

  3. Gaylene: I'll enter you :)

Kim: And I'll enter you. Thanks for the good wishes, and my condolences on your February. We'll get through it with lots of good books.

Super Pi: Oh, Birthdays make everything better. I wish you lots of birthday cake and candles. And I'll enter you in the drawing. :)

  4. I remembered from a FB posting you once made, that you hate February. I thought it was funny then and still do. I would love to be entered into your drawing, even though I happen to like the current month. (Forgive me!) There's the Superbowl, my niece's birthday, my birthday and then my 12th wedding anniversary. I also like
V-Day. I like the pretty, handmade Valentine's that my mother traditionally crafts.

  5. I hate February, too. It's a cold, miserable month that masquerades as a lovey one. Please. Don't they know that May is the good month for love? (Or any month but February?)

I loved Bree's first book but haven't read the second one yet. I hope your girls give you the chance to read it soon!

  6. Rena: Happy birthday and anniversary! My apologies to your birth and marriage month. I didn't even know. How pitiful. And hand-crafted cards from your talented mother must be lovely. I would try not to hate February just for your sake, but it won't work, so you'll have to like February without me. :)

Do you want to be entered in the book drawing?

Laura: Amen, amen. The lusty month of May. We should go to lunch and bash February together. I'll enter you in the drawing for Bree's book. :)

  7. Rena: I can't read. Of course I'll enter you.

  8. I want to enter. I hated January so much I don't think it can get worse. But you never know.

  9. Jamie: I'm so sorry. My January was pretty crappy, too, I admit. It's hard to imagine things getting worse, but I find February likes to outdo itself. But enough already! I wish you a lovely month. And I'd love to enter you in my February drawing.

  10. I hope your February gets better. I hope you get some nice sun and clear, healthy skies.
Perhaps we can get together for brunch (or a green smoothie) when I'm in your area--that would make February better, right? !!

  11. Ooo, I enjoyed the first book and would love a free copy of the second. Add me!

  12. Already a follower, as you know. I hate to brag, but I've been loving the weather. You wouldn't hate February if you lived by me!

  13. Brain cloud turned foggy down my way. I'd love to enter for the drawing. I can already see myself snuggled next to the fireplace reading it, even through the mist.

  14. Sarah: Thanks! Skies have actually been less polluted this week because of wind, I guess, so I'll take what I can get. And I'd love to make you a green smoothie. Come by my house anytime. I keep a fridge full of kale. Good company would definitely help the brain fog.

Ashley: Welcome to the blog! I'd love to enter you.

Alyosha: So right. Can I move in with you for the rest of the month? I won't be any trouble--I'll be hanging out on the beach all day.

Angie: Sounds perfect to me. I'll put you in the hat. And welcome :)
